So, 4 months ahead of time I am booking train tickets to return to this dire place.

Purely to work for 5 hrs, then return to Yorkshire.

Just so I can keep a bit of extra income until summer when I have 8 weeks of placements probably working 7 days a week so it'd be impossible to work in London too. I will miss the job, as it's quiet and relaxing and I can revise.

I am currently in the computer room, feeling pretty aggrieved, as all of my friends finish at 11, and I finish at 3. I've got a male reproduction soundness practical later - which translates as feeling male animals private parts. And clinical skills where we're learning the one and two handed ties I don't know.

But, on a positive note, I am having a day off tomorrow!

So, I'm blogging to avoid doing my filing. I always have something to avoid don't I?

Tomorrow we start the last week of the reproduction module, I like reproduction. Not in a crude way haha, but I've always enjoyed it, maybe I can become a vet gynaecologist? It's a topic I've always found easy to grasp which is a relief compared to most topics I can never get my head round.

I am missing home loads this week, seems to always happen after a break. Had a few weird teary moments when I've just been like I hate it here and I want to go home. Then I pull myself together again.

I've also been practising suturing for a day. I seem to be capable of a simple interrupted suture pattern, the sort you'd use to stitch up a skin wound. Here's my practising on my foam pad:


But I still can't do a one or a two handed tie. Practise makes perfect.

So... I'm back down south. Much to my disliking of this fact I will have to accept it.

I drove down yesterday, which wasn't too bad considering how much I hate long distance driving. I stopped once at Trowell Services in Nottinghamshire for a mocha as I was flagging slightly.

I could honestly have cried as I was driving out of Harrogate. I miss home so much.

I got back and I was the only one in the house which was going to be depressing, then one of my housemates and her boyfriend turned up later on which was better. I still haven't unpacked properly and dont feel like I'm organised at all for Monday.

The new timetable seems a bit full on but I'm going to force myself to stay in uni for the whole day instead of going home like I did last term.

I feel quite behind because I spent so long on my research project so I feel I need to be reading last terms notes aswell and the new terms ones. We start doing suturing in clinical skills now, and I've been trying to find a shoelace that's half black and half white to practice with but no luck as yet...

Oh, also... Andrew Crook, senior anatomy technician at Camden is now an MBE, so well deserved for a dedicated member of staff who made dissections so much fun last year. But I didn't appreciate his juggling testicles joke before my ISF exam!!

Well I welcomed in 2012 in a sedate fashion, actually didn't do anything just stayed in and watched the fireworks on tv. It was nice though, never underestimate the quieter things in life.

I finish work tomorrow, sleep here I come! Hopefully meeting up with my best friend from school a some point, it's been about two years since we've actually seen each other face - actually more like three now I think about it!

Here are my resolutions for the forthcoming year:

1. Lose the weight I put on after being ill last year.
2. Do more work, more extra reading dont just go to sleep!
3. Go to the gym, you're paying for it so use it!
4. Ride more.
5. Stop being scared to check your bank account.
6. Dont stand for rubbish from people, you're stronger than that.
7. Spend more time with my family and dogs.
8. Keep in contact with friends better.
9. Be more tidy.
10. Don't think of yourself so negatively, other people see things you cannot see in yourself.
11. Learn to accept compliments.
And....
12. Try not to moan as much.

Lets see if I keep them shall we!

I've been home for two weeks so obviously been completely lazy about updating.

After a mammoth 10 hour journey (due to stops at relatives and my sister's inability to pack) we made it back to Yorkshire. Woo. I'm so glad to be back. Just what I needed a bit of home comfort and doggie therapy.

One of my friends wedding's was on the Saturday. It was a beautiful day, out in Skipton with a lovely snowy backdrop. And very good to see her and the other girl's from school I haven't seen for a while.

I've been working ever since with only Christmas day off, depressingly. But I think I finish on Monday for some well earned rest! Done very little uni work which I feel guilty about but nevermind. I will crack on when I get back.

I got an IPad for Christmas. It's amazing, apart from it doesn't have a free Blogspot app or anything so I'm still limited to emailing and updated on the good old laptop. I've downloaded iAnnotate PDF to add notes to my lecture pdfs still learning how to use it though but I'll get there.

I have also been picked to be a regular blogger on the site VetStream for 2012, which will be good and will get me out there more but this blog will remain as a more personal note of my experiences of this course. It'll also be something nice for me to look back on in the future, hopefully when I'm qualified!

Anyway here's my own little bit of motivational therapy...

This week has been a weird one...

Report was handed in Tuesday, that's a whole TWO days before the deadline. Record for me. We don't find out if we passed for a long time though.
Everything is sort of coming to a close, a week today I'll be at a school friend's wedding at home. I'm really ready for the break.

On Monday we found out a member of fourth year who was ill had taken her own life in the middle of the exam period. Very very sad and has obviously had a massive effect on the year above me. I didn't know her at all really, just her name and in passing she helped me pick my books up when I fell down the stairs like the idiot I am. I'm thinking of her family and friends at this terrible time.
Everyone always says how vets have the highest rate of suicide as they struggle to cope with the stresses and depressions of a career that is full of ups and downs. There's all this speculation that as vets are all so intelligent they see seeking help as a weakness, yes that probably is true - the "we are there to give care to others, and shouldn't need it ourselves" mentality. I hope if this ever happens to me, I will have the strength within myself and support around me to find the help I need.

A bit morose I know but it makes you think.

Next week I have a cow rectal. And hopefully I will get some beautiful pictures to share with you all. But for now, here is my office companion at work:

AHEMS report finished, been sent to my tutor for comments and improvements. Waiting to be told to rewrite it all! And I'm hoping to never see another bleeding horse again

Still a bit behind on lectures but I can catch up over Christmas. I'm going to be working all Christmas at Comet at home. Joy! But money atleast.

Missing home a lot at the moment, so I think out of stress I've started baking. I made 3 cakes, mince pies, peanut butter and chocolate cookies and jam tarts this week.

I entered the Sweet Anatomy contest last week at uni. Was a lot of fun and we came second in the Pathology section :)

He's the little one by the way. The other one is my 8 year old Lab X GR ex guide dog Ewan. What a size difference!
